Finally my first story. After my adventure of five months in Uppsala, I had a range of other activities before the 'real life back home' started. Actually it's still not started. After finishing my bachelor thesis (with a surprisingly good result) my summer holiday started. The last week of July i went to Sweden again. Two and a half week with two activities and in between some nice days with Marjolein. The first week Marjolein and me were asked to cook for participants of an improtheatre week, which was organised by my father (for http://www.theaterenspel.nl). Everything was organised at a Swedish farm with a Dutch owner in the east of Sweden 25 kilometers east of Norrköping. We were supposed to cook a three course meal for 18 people, my mother and 'little' brother (Wouter) also helped. It went really good, nobody got sick and we even received compliments!
The second week was a family-canoe-trip planned in the western part of Sweden, but before I gave Marjolein her birthday present of one day in Uppsala! Going back for a weekend and showing her around the place where i lived, while she was in Bolivia. Uppsala was quite different with a lot of flowers (Linneus week) and hardly any students. It was just changed in a very peaceful, quiet city. I guided Marjolein to all the interesting places, and habits. We had a nice fika with chokladkaka och blåberkaka. Of course i tried her somehow to show the student life and happily one nation was open (Norrlands with Orvars krog). So one night was filled... We stayed two nights at the camping near the big swimmingpool (walking distance of the center).

The family canoe-trip was in the eastern part of Sweden near Bengtsfors (in the end we drove 3500km in total). Five nights canoeing with camping in the wild. We went in total with 14 people. Canoeing from 15 till 21 km a day, camping on small island, making campfires and just relaxing. It was a great adventure! The last days Marjolein and me stayed two nights in a small stuga before going home.

After the holiday Marjolein worked hard to finish her master's thesis, which she did last week!

Dear visitor,

Welcome on my blog about all sort of things going on around and with me. I started this blog after the explosion of blogs from my fellow Uppsala-veterans. The main objective is to keep in touch with them and connect to that network international friends. My experiences with blogs is mainly that i'm an enthousiastic starter, but the first flow of writings aren't a garantee for future posts. So, please, just feel spoiled when i post a lot in the beginning and don't see it as my standard. Furthermore, feel free to post a comment. Of course i will read and answer them.
